Legal Counsel Opportunity at Ourcommons

We are seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our team at Ourcommons. As a Legal Counsel, you will provide expert legal advice and services to Members of Parliament and officials of the House of Commons.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive and expert legal advice on complex issues related to constitutional law, parliamentary law, administrative law, contracts and procurement, privacy law, and employment law.
  • Work under the direction of a Senior Counsel and Team Leader, Legal Services, to deliver high-quality legal services in a professional, non-partisan, confidential, and timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of contract law, procurement law, employment law, and parliamentary law to provide strategic and timely legal advice.
Requirements:
  • Law degree from a recognized university.
  • Experience in providing expert legal advice on public law issues.
  • Experience in providing strategic and timely legal advice on complex legal issues.
Assets:
  • Knowledge of contract law and procurement law.
  • Knowledge of employment law.
  • Knowledge of parliamentary law.
