Campus Academic Support Specialist

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Offer tailored academic support to designated students:
- on an individual basis; and/or,
- in small, informal groups (typically within a Learning Centre environment)
- Collaborate with the Instructor, Lab Demonstrator, or Department Chair, and operate under their guidance when necessary to enhance student learning.
- Encourage students to cultivate positive attitudes towards their educational journey.
- Assist students in building self-esteem, enhancing self-image, and alleviating anxiety related to academic performance.
- Motivate students to achieve excellence in their academic pursuits.
- Support students in gaining a deeper comprehension of subject matter and improving their academic skills in targeted areas.
- Facilitate the development of effective study techniques essential for academic success.
- Establish and nurture a supportive relationship with assigned students.
- Act as a positive role model for the students receiving assistance.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Fundamental knowledge and skills relevant to the assigned responsibilities.
- Ability to comprehend and execute both verbal and written directives.
- Capability to perform basic administrative tasks as required and to proficiently use standard office equipment.
- Ability to foster and maintain constructive working relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Adherence to Financial Aid Work on Campus qualifications.
- Compliance with CUPE collective agreement standards for Peer Tutors.

For candidates applying through the Student Work Assistance Program (SWAP), if you have not been approved for student loans, please ensure to include your budget sheet as a separate document from your resume and cover letter.
