POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Arena Operations at Canucks Sports & Entertainment is tasked with formulating and ensuring the execution of strategic frameworks and supporting operational plans for Arena Management at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. This role will also serve as the principal coordinator for significant maintenance initiatives at Rogers Arena.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

(Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary)

  • Direct and provide operational guidance for the arena management of Rogers Arena
  • Lead the Arena & Facilities Operations team at Rogers Arena, ensuring effective management, enhancement, and upkeep of the venue and its associated equipment
  • Act as the management representative during events hosted at Rogers Arena
  • Collaborate with fellow leadership team members to develop and promote integrated initiatives that enhance the hockey, lacrosse, and concert experiences
  • Oversee and manage maintenance initiatives that affect Rogers Arena, including facility development and exclusive events
  • Provide operational oversight for various construction projects related to CSE, liaising with AG representatives and construction project managers to safeguard CSE's interests
  • Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships while addressing all matters arising with external stakeholders involved in Arena Operations
  • Collaborate closely with CSE Ownership and Leadership Teams on initiatives that significantly influence the organization's strategic goals
  • Contribute as a dedicated and responsible member of the Leadership Team, engaging in the strategic planning process

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A post-secondary degree in a relevant field, with a preference for candidates with formal education in engineering (civil or mechanical) and/or construction
  • 8-10 years of experience in a related position within a high-performance, customer-centric organization; prior experience in a professional sports and entertainment venue is advantageous (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Strong project management capabilities, including the development and oversight of project plans and budgets
  • An inspiring leader with substantial experience in guiding, motivating, and developing team members
  • Proven track record in creating successful facility initiatives focused on enhancing the customer experience
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of all facets of commercial construction and arena maintenance
  • Experience in formulating strategic directions for businesses, including the development of tactical details while maintaining a broad perspective
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and sustain strong partnerships and collaborative relationships across all business lines
  • A strong history of personal and team accomplishments throughout their career, with significant contributions to the positive growth of the organization through innovative thinking and proactive execution
  • Professional business acumen and insight
  • Exceptional listening skills combined with a high level of intellectual capability
