The Discipline Lead – Mechanical is responsible for all Mechanical team members and is responsible for maintaining and developing engineering standards and procedures, Quality Programs, strategic initiatives, and project execution to help build strong client relationships, drive increased productivity, revenue, and brand reputation. In collaboration with the Engineering Manager and Tarco & Axial Group Senior Leadership Team, the Discipline Lead – Mechanical may be accountable for developing operational budgets and ensuring budget targets are met through effective, efficient processes and utilization of resources (People, Equipment, and Facility).

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the technical team and technical standards tools and best practices
  • Align with Tarco & Axial Group Organizational Goals, Objectives, and Strategies
  • Set tone, culture, and acceptance within the group
  • Drive success for the assigned unit in areas of Technical Project Execution, Deliverable Quality, Efficiency, Customer Focus, Employee Engagement, Team Performance, Profitability, and Organic Growth

Experience with on-site commissioning and startup is required. Good understanding of consulting, business development (with regards to proposal and estimate generation or contribution), client BD, and sub-contractor communications is essential. Strong technical troubleshooting skills and technical proposal development are also required. Creation of technical documentation (Cause and effect, programming narratives, test procedures, user manuals, installation/commissioning manuals, etc.) is a must. Experience with specialized HYSYS flow and pressure modeling software is an asset. Demonstrated success in a customer-facing operations management role is necessary. 7-10 years of engineering and management experience leading the efforts of a multi-disciplinary engineering group, or a combination of education and/or management experience is required. Previous consulting experience in the western Canadian energy sector within a related technical field is an asset. Practical experience participating in or leading HAZOP, Risk Analysis, and Incident investigations is necessary. Presentation and training course development and delivery is required. Excellent English communication skills are essential.
