Family Medicine Physician

We are seeking a skilled Family Medicine Physician to join our team at the Digby and Area Health Services Centre. As a member of our team, you will provide comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness.
The successful candidate will be accountable for appropriate workload and practice, and will work collaboratively with other team members to provide patient care and hold regular team meetings. This is a turn-key clinic operated by Nova Scotia Health Authority, and physicians complete their billings on their own or hire billing support.
The Digby and Area Health Services Centre is a dynamic and supportive work environment, with a team of two physicians, four Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurse and Licenced Practical Nurse. We offer a range of services, including cardiac respiratory services, continuing care, diagnostic imaging, emergency medicine, laboratory services, medical unit, mental health and addiction services, palliative care, physiotherapy, public health services, occupational therapy, nutrition and diabetes counseling, speech therapy, and telehealth room services.
Responsibilities- Ensure the delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to patients of all ages and stages of health or illness
- Be accountable for appropriate workload and practice
- Continuum of patient care with health care providers within your practice and/or community
- Provide care and coordination of community-based care, secondary and tertiary level health care
- Build to capacity within the first two years (new primary care providers)
- Operate within the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of Nova Scotia Health Authority
- Work toward same day or next day access for the practice population
- Work in collaboration with other team members in the practice to best suit the community's health needs
- Work with other providers to provide after-hours access when required and emergency opportunities if interested
- Participate in quality improvement and evaluation activities
- Utilize an electronic medical record (EMR) and record all relevant patient details in a provincially approved EMR which is accessible to all collaborating team members
- Full-time or part-time
- All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
- All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
