About this Opportunity

Cenovus is seeking a skilled Reservoir Engineer to join the Thermal Reservoir Optimization team in Calgary. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for analyzing well and reservoir operating data to implement strategies that improve reservoir performance. Your primary role will be to work with a multi-disciplinary team of geoscientists and production engineers to optimize a group of pads.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with Pad Teams to identify opportunities to improve conformance, reduce SOR, increase production and recovery, and minimize the impacts of bottom water and thief zones.
  2. Coordinate performance evaluations on assigned base pads, including production comparisons to forecasts, supervising recovery over time, and sharing knowledge of key observations and findings.
  3. Support the development and history match of models to understand and forecast pad performance, identifying and evaluating potential beneficial optimization opportunities.
  4. Evaluate redrill opportunities on assigned operating pads, developing forecasts and economic evaluations to support those candidates.
  5. Provide feedback and validate base pad forecasts on assigned operating pads.
  6. Identify and advance studies and field trials to optimize performance continuously, supporting operating strategy advancement and technology progression.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  2. Professional Engineer accredited with APEG.
  3. Minimum of 4+ years of experience with prior experience on commercially operating SAGD assets.
  4. Solid understanding of reservoir simulation is an asset.
  5. Confirmed capacity to learn new concepts quickly and work towards continuous improvement.
  6. Ability to process large amounts of information from different sources.
  7. Excellent collaboration, communication, organization, and time management skills.
  8. Experience programming in one or more languages is an asset.
