Biostatistics and Data Linkage Expert

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Biostatistics & Data Linkage Leader to join our team at the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA). As a key member of our Provincial Specialized Programs, you will provide leadership in data linkage and participate in cross-divisional projects to support the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide statistical and data linkage consultation to support the development of data-driven solutions for our programs.
- Lead and collaborate in the planning, implementation, analysis, and interpretation of studies focusing on rare diseases, including evaluation of current treatment options and accessibility to treatment.
- Collaborate in centre-wide initiatives to link data, design, and carry out studies that address questions related to the PSP mandate, such as information on the applicable patient population, effectiveness, and safety of programs or interventions.
- Link clinical and administrative databases, develop complex databases, and manage data entry and verification, editing, and applications of data quality assurance procedures.
- Develop SAS user-friendly applications, create and manipulate datasets using SAS and SPLUS software or equivalent, and generate statistical models and mathematical simulations of research data.
- Provide information and support to health policy and quality assurance decision makers, including health care cost estimates and best practices for improving health outcomes of specific populations.
- Communicate statistical results to PSP personnel and external partners, respond to consulting requests requiring mathematical/statistical input/procedures, and provide statistical contributions to data mining operations and algorithm development.
- A Master's degree in statistics/biostatistics or equivalent, plus five (5) years of recent related experience, including progressive increases in responsibilities for complex data linkage, data management, and analysis.
- Advanced knowledge of medical content and a strong background in large complex database analysis.
- Fluent in statistical packages such as SAS/SPLUS or equivalent, with mastery of programming such as macros, datastep, and PROC SQL and applicable software.
- Excellent written and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a team environment, with a commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.

Salary Range: $88,990 – $127,923/year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part-time roles.
