Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician, under the supervision of a pharmacist, performs delegated duties related to the technical and clerical functions of the pharmacy in accordance with the mission, vision, values, and philosophy of the Northern Health Region (NHR).

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform technical and clerical functions of the pharmacy under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Education and Certification

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Successful completion of a CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Certificate or the program prescribed by the College of Pharmacists of Manitoba for candidates who successfully complete a non-CCAPP Accredited Pharmacy Technician Certificate.
  • Completion or eligible to complete the CPhM Pharmacy Technician Structural Practical Training Program and CPhM Pharmacy Technician Jurisprudence Examination.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Working knowledge of Windows-based programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and Internet.
  • WHIMIS and proper handling of cytotoxic substances.
  • Ability to maintain Pharmacy Program Pharmacy Technician competency assessments.

Requirements

  • Fulfill the requirements of the Criminal Records/Vulnerable Person, Child Abuse Registry check and Adult Abuse Registry check.
  • Adhere to all Northern Health Region policies and procedures.
