Job Title: Registered Practical Nurse, Mental Health and Addictions
Job Summary:
Home and Community Care Support Services North East is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join our team in Sudbury. The successful candidate will be assigned to a district school board to advise educators, develop individual care plans, and assist school boards in addressing mental health and addiction needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist school boards in recognizing and responding to student mental health and addiction issues
- Provide medical consultation to educators regarding medication management and other health-related matters
- Provide services and support to students with mild mental health and substance abuse issues
- Consult with the RN and/or other healthcare team members as needed
- Develop plans for patients with mental health and addiction needs
- Help students and/or parents access services such as family health and/or addictions agencies
- Apply knowledge of nursing process to achieve identified client goals
Requirements:
- Recent and relevant direct clinical experience in providing mental health and/or addictions services for children and youth
- Knowledge of the mental health and addictions service system for children and youth
- Solid knowledge of health care related legislation and practices
- Assessment and care planning skills
- Ability to work independently
- Effective interpersonal and communications skills
- Registered Practical Nurse and relevant related experience
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
- Valid Emergency First Aid Certification
- Travel will be required
- Advanced written and oral proficiency in English is essential
