Education Facilitator

This role is responsible for creating and delivering educational programs that align with West Edmonton Mall's Marine Life Education goals. The successful candidate will work closely with the Education Supervisor and the Animal Care department to develop engaging and informative programs for various age groups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver educational programs that cater to preschool to Grade 12, and general public groups.
  • Manage course bookings and confirm courses with customers.
  • Present educational content and monitor touch pools as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Marine Life Education budget.
  • Collaborate with the Education Supervisor to create the CAZA education committee.
  • Provide course information to clients and communicate with existing groups.
  • Develop knowledge of animal care and handling for presentation ambassador animals.
  • Communicate effectively between departments, including Admissions, Marketing, and Maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule of program bookings, balancing program needs and staffing requirements.
  • Deliver reptile and invertebrates outreach programs.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Training in educational programming.
  • Post-secondary degree in education, and knowledge of the Alberta Curriculum program an asset.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage and control a classroom of children.
  • Ability to work successfully with professional education officials and teachers.
  • Previous animal handling experience is an asset.
  • Able to develop new curriculum-related courses.
  • First Aid and CPR courses.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with programs such as Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and Galaxy an asset.

Terms of Employment:

  • This is a permanent, full-time position that requires flexible availability for days, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers' License and able to provide a clear Driver's Abstract.
  • This position works in a busy mall environment primarily at attractions and in a classroom setting.
  • This individual is required to interact successfully with guests and children of all ages.
  • The position requires some city traveling to deliver educational courses.
  • Must be able to carry 50lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
