Education Facilitator

This role involves developing and delivering educational programs for West Edmonton Mall's Marine Life Education department. The successful candidate will work closely with the Education Supervisor and the Animal Care team to create engaging and informative experiences for guests of all ages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver educational programs for preschool to Grade 12 students and general public groups.
  • Manage course bookings and confirm programs with customers.
  • Present educational content and monitor touch pools as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Marine Life Education budget.
  • Support the Education Supervisor in creating the CAZA education committee.
  • Provide course information to clients and liaise with existing groups.
  • Learn animal care and handling for presentation ambassador animals.
  • Communicate with various departments, including Admissions, Marketing, and Maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain a schedule of program bookings.
  • Deliver reptile and invertebrates outreach programs.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Training in educational programming.
  • Post-secondary degree in education, with knowledge of the Alberta Curriculum program an asset.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage and control a classroom of children.
  • Ability to work successfully with professional education officials and teachers.
  • Previous animal handling experience is an asset.
  • Able to develop new curriculum-related courses.
  • First Aid and CPR courses.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with programs such as Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, and Galaxy an asset.

Terms of Employment:

  • This is a permanent, full-time position requiring flexible availability for days, weekends, and holidays.
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers' License and ability to provide a clear Driver's Abstract required.
  • This position works in a busy mall environment primarily at attractions and in a classroom setting.
  • This individual must interact successfully with guests and children of all ages.
  • The position requires some city traveling to deliver educational courses.
  • Ability to carry 50lbs and stand for long periods of time required.
