Position Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer with substantial FEA expertise to contribute to the development of cutting-edge transceiver modules and subsystems tailored to meet diverse customer requirements. This role encompasses both leadership and support across various stages of product development, from initial concept to mass production. Familiarity with optical and microelectronic components will be highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver mechanical design and analytical solutions that fulfill design criteria. Projects may include:
    • Telecommunication transceivers and associated subsystems (e.g., TOSAs, ROSAs).
    • Microelectronic packaging and multi-chip modules (MCM).
    • High-speed RF applications.
    • Design and oversight of fixtures to support product development and engineering processes.
  • Utilize FEA and CFD analysis tools to assess both linear and non-linear materials, focusing on aspects such as stress states, fatigue, thermal performance, deformation, modal response, and combined thermal/stress behaviors.
  • Develop design concepts that align with transceiver MSAs and microelectronic packaging standards.
  • Conduct design risk assessments and establish appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate with process and test engineering teams to ensure design compatibility with manufacturing capabilities. Engage with component suppliers to align designs with manufacturing practices (DFM).
  • Perform comprehensive statistical tolerance analysis for products and assembly tooling.
  • Create detailed documentation, including design specifications, part and assembly drawings, Bill of Materials, and process flows.
  • Assist in defining and managing project timelines to achieve deliverables, while coordinating activities within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Support prototype development and engineering design verification to ensure compliance with specifications.

Qualifications

  • A relevant engineering degree is required, along with a minimum of 8 years of pertinent design experience.
  • Proven experience in designing various transceiver pluggable modules (MSA compliant), such as QSFP-DD, SFF, OSEP, CFP, etc.
  • Expertise in optimizing thermal-opto-mechanical-electrical layouts within confined spaces, particularly in transceiver applications.
  • Knowledge of high-volume casting processes, materials, and design constraints.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Experience with FEA and CFD analysis tools (ANSYS preferred) and validating results.
  • Familiarity with optical and microelectronic technologies, materials, components, and assembly processes.
  • Understanding of relevant material technologies, including eutectic solders, adhesives, and thermal interface materials.
  • Experience in comprehensive product development, with an emphasis on manufacturing implementation considered a plus.
