Job Summary

The Millwright Specialist will be part of the Maintenance team at Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, responsible for maintaining, repairing, installing, assembling, and modifying equipment to maximize uptime, quality, and production. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and problem-solving skills to ensure the efficient operation of our manufacturing facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair, install, assemble, and modify equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Lubricate machinery, replace seals, clean parts during overhauls, and perform preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Read and create blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Enter work requests and order parts and materials using our Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Troubleshoot, adjust, and repair equipment as required, using advanced diagnostic techniques and tools.
  • Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance (PM) programs to reduce equipment failures and downtime.
  • Align machines and equipment to ensure proper operation and safety.
  • Assemble machines and equipment from raw materials to ensure proper fit and function.
  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing and piping systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Install, repair, and maintain airlines, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Perform welding, cutting, and fabricating tasks to repair and maintain equipment.
  • Maintain and monitor equipment using predictive and preventive techniques, including vibration analysis, stethoscopes, strobe lights, and thermal imaging.
  • Train and mentor apprentices to ensure the development of technical skills and knowledge.
  • Actively participate in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintain housekeeping of assigned areas to ensure a clean and organized workspace.
  • Participate in improvement projects to identify and implement process improvements and cost savings.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the Maintenance team and ensure the efficient operation of our manufacturing facilities.

    Requirements

    • Minimum of 3 years of industrial experience in equipment maintenance and repair.
    • Knowledge of equipment maintenance principles and practices.
    • Ability to stand on feet for long periods, climb, bend, stoop, squat, and lift heavy objects.
    • Ability to work in confined spaces and at substantial heights.
    • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
    • Time management, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills to ensure efficient completion of tasks.
    • Good communication, interpersonal, and writing skills to effectively document work activities and communicate with colleagues.
    • Demonstrated coordination and mechanical ability to perform complex tasks and troubleshoot equipment.
    • Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations to ensure compliance and a safe working environment.
    • Good problem-solving ability to identify and resolve equipment issues.
    • Intermediate computer skills to use CMMS and other software applications.
    • Willingness to take training courses for trade upgrading to stay current with industry developments and best practices.

    Education

    • Red Seal Industrial Mechanic/Millwright certification or equivalent.
