Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Nurse Specialist focused on children and young adults in the fields of hematology and oncology, specifically in Apheresis and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT).

Role Highlights

This role presents an exciting opportunity to develop specialized competencies in Clinical Apheresis and Autologous Stem Cell Transplantation, while gaining comprehensive knowledge and skills within the Pediatric/Adolescent Hematology Oncology Cellular Therapy Team.

The position is situated within the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Apheresis and Cellular Therapy team, providing care to children, adolescents, and their families.

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be a proactive, innovative, and experienced Registered Nurse (Child) with relevant qualifications and experience. You should demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development, possess strong organizational and time management skills, and work effectively as part of a team. This role emphasizes the development of expertise in clinical apheresis and autologous transplantation.

Job Responsibilities

The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust defines a Nurse Specialist as a qualified nurse whose primary role is to provide guidance and support based on advanced knowledge to patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals regarding specific diseases or conditions.

Within this specialized practice, you will:

  • Work towards enhancing your advanced knowledge and skills within your area of expertise.
  • Contribute to the planning, delivery, and evaluation of care pathways for a designated patient group.
  • Support the advancement of nursing practices within your specialty and contribute to the nursing knowledge base.
  • Participate in training and educational initiatives within your area of specialization.

Please note that successful candidates requiring a DBS for the role will be responsible for the payment, which will be deducted from their first month's salary.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (appropriate to branch)
  • Current NMC registration
  • Diploma plus specialist qualifications/experience within the relevant area; willingness to pursue degree-level study

Desirable Qualifications

  • Degree in a health-related subject

  • Proficient IT skills
  • Strong report writing abilities
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Effective organizational and time management skills
  • Current driving license if applicable to the role
