About the Role
Mackenzie Health is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team in providing high-quality patient care in our acute care setting. As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering holistic, patient-centered care to patients with a focus on stroke rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a workload effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks to ensure timely completion of duties.
- Address and resolve issues in a productive and respectful manner, promoting a positive work environment.
- Exercise sound professional judgment, using evidence-based nursing practices and best practice guidelines to inform decision-making.
- Contribute to a safe and inclusive environment for all patients and staff, adhering to patient and staff safety policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Practical Nurse Diploma from an approved nursing program, with a preference for recent graduates.
- Current Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario, with a requirement for recent completion of a physical assessment course.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, with a preference for experience working with electronic medical records.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening, and verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to deliver information and work effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Member of the Registered Practical Nurses' Association of Ontario (RPNAO), with a preference for experience working in an acute care setting.
- A minimum of 1 year recent nursing experience working as a Registered Practical Nurse in an acute care setting within the past 3 years.
- Experience working with the elderly and acute and stroke rehab patients.
- Ability to speak a second language.
