Patent Clerk Opportunity

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patent Clerk to join our team at The Leadership Agency. As a Patent Clerk, you will play a critical role in supporting our clients in the preparation and filing of patent applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and file patent applications with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) and/or the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
  • Manage reminders for foreign filings, Office Actions, Notices of Allowance, and maintenance fees
  • Prepare draft letters and reminders for agents and clients, ensuring efficient and clear communication
  • Leverage modern IP systems to improve daily processes and workflows
  • Regularly communicate with clients to provide updates, draft reports, and follow up on pending deadlines
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a patent clerk or in a related patent assistant role
  • Strong knowledge of USPTO systems, Canadian IP Office processes, and modern IP management software systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear and concise documentation
  • A Legal Assistant Diploma, Law Clerk Program certification, or Paralegal degree is an asset
  • Comfortable with MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and willing to adopt new technology solutions
  • French-English bilingualism is considered a strong asset
