Job Title: Senior Technical Writer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Writer to join our team at ADGA Group Consultants Inc. in Ottawa, Canada.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining technical documentation for our Military Command and Control systems. This includes writing and/or summarizing technical documents for various audiences, designing document layouts, and translating technical documentation between official languages.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Write and/or summarize technical documents for engineering, system manager, and end-user audiences
  • Design document layouts and apply formatting specifications
  • Translate technical documentation and technical data package material between official languages
  • Review documentation standards and project documentation
  • Determine documentation requirements and plan to meet them
  • Assess audience and prepare statements of purpose and scope
  • Develop tables of content and write or edit required content
  • Document help text, user manuals, technical documentation, web page content, and more
  • Translate technical documentation and technical data package material between official languages
  • Gather information on system features and functions
  • Investigate information accuracy by using documented material
  • Prepare or coordinate illustrations and diagrams
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation in various formats and tools
  • Advise on technical document appropriateness and effectiveness
Requirements:
  • Minimum 10 years of demonstrated technical writing experience
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in technical writing on Military Command and Control systems
  • Demonstrated experience in business correspondence and reports in Information Technology
  • Demonstrated experience with technical concept documents, system specifications, and technical proposals in Information Technology/Information management or engineering
  • Proof of University Degree or College Diploma in any discipline
  • Experience providing advice and/or guidance on technical writing issues
  • Experience providing verbal briefings/presentations on technical topics
  • Experience planning, researching, gathering information, and authoring technical documentation
  • Experience proofreading technical documents created by others
  • Experience analyzing material to explain requirements clearly and concisely
