Hydroelectric Plant Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Burnaby, BC. As a key member of our Hydropower and Dams group, you will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise and mechanical engineering services on domestic and international hydroelectric and dam projects.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide mechanical engineering services on small to large-sized hydroelectric and dam projects, including design, construction, and refurbishment.
- Work independently and under the guidance of the Mechanical Lead to meet contractual scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Occasional travel to project sites or other offices is required.
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering aspects of hydroelectric facilities design or construction, with expertise in turbine engineering and design preferred.
- Proficiency in the use of basic engineering and design tools, including Mathcad, AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks, and Finite Element Analysis programs.
- Experience in condition assessment, troubleshooting performance issues, and commissioning of mechanical equipment.
- Experience with manufacturing, operation, or maintenance of hydropower equipment will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of American, Canadian, and provincial codes and standards.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively work and collaborate with a wide range of internal and external customers.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized and accredited institution.
- A minimum of 20 years of professional engineering experience related to new and rehabilitation of hydroelectric facilities, including preparation of conceptual and detail designs, specifications, and review of vendor submissions.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in BC or other Canadian Province will be considered an asset.
