At DGA Careers, we're seeking a seasoned Senior Underwriter to join our team in a hybrid role based in Guelph, Toronto, or Montreal. As a key member of our underwriting team, you'll play a critical role in reviewing and evaluating applications to determine risk and extend coverage.
Key Responsibilities:- Utilize advanced problem-solving skills to assess intricate specialty accounts and ensure decisions align with established policies, procedures, and standards.
- Prepare quotes and negotiate coverages to offer creative solutions that benefit all stakeholders, referring business to the appropriate authority level as required.
- Partner with business units to create applicable rating worksheets and manuscript wording, reviewing risk engineering reports to actively monitor progress and achieve goals.
- Guide and advise team members to develop a team-oriented approach, maintaining positive and mutually beneficial relationships with client groups and stakeholders.
- Obtain quality of service information from distribution partners to contribute to the development and implementation of improved services, actively seeking out learning opportunities to support own growth and development.
- Seven years of experience in Commercial Underwriting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designations.
- Advanced knowledge of underwriting practices, insurance products, and competitor landscape.
- Occasional travel.
- Direct contact with clients and/or service providers in their environment.
- Extended work hours, including weekends, may be required during peak periods.
