Job Overview:

Bureau Veritas Canada is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Analyst 1 to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. As a Laboratory Analyst 1, you will be responsible for producing high-quality analytical data, safely and on time, by following applicable Standard Operating Procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review laboratory information management system (LIMS) summary reports to plan and organize daily work
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy and quality in sample preparation and analysis
  • Perform sample preparation and analytical procedures, including some basic testing procedures
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including PC computers and instruments used for oil property analysis
  • Meet quality and turnaround time (TAT) specifications required by clients and ensure samples are analyzed within holding time requirements
  • Identify and document sample deviations, non-conformances, and process deviations, and report to the supervisor

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field, such as petroleum or chemical technology
  • Demonstrated success in a laboratory technician or analyst role is an asset
  • Sound knowledge of sample handling procedures and laboratory quality assurance protocols
  • Knowledge of and experience with laboratory occupational health and safety practices
  • Excellent manual dexterity, record-keeping, calculations, and problem-solving abilities
  • Flexible to perform varying duties to accommodate changing priorities
  • Good time-management, communication, multi-tasking, and priority-setting skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Positive outlook and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
