About the Role

As a Railway Engineering Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our railway operations. You will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations into incidents involving railway components and materials, providing valuable insights to improve safety protocols and prevent future occurrences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead investigations into railway incidents, including derailments and component failures, utilizing material science, metallurgy, and testing methodologies.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies to fulfill investigation requests and provide comprehensive reports on findings.
  • Perform meticulous teardown inspections of railway components according to AAR standards, identifying potential defects and contributing to root cause analysis.
  • Develop compelling business cases for implementing new technologies and processes that enhance investigation capabilities and laboratory productivity.
  • Contribute to the research and development of innovative solutions that improve railway safety and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Material, Civil Engineering, or a related field. Eligibility for Engineer in Training registration is highly desirable.
  • Extensive knowledge and practical experience in material sciences, metallurgy, destructive and non-destructive testing methods.
  • Proficiency in extracting data from various systems to conduct root cause analysis and identify trends indicating manufacturing defects.
  • Demonstrated ability to suggest process improvements, manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapt to diverse tasks, and exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with MS Office Suite. Experience with welding, railway components, SAP/ERP systems, Python programming, and CAD software is beneficial.
  • Ability to create clear and concise reports for management.
  • Experience working safely in environments involving large equipment and cranes.
  • Availability for occasional travel and after-hours support.
  • Possession of a full-stage Class 5 driver's permit.
