ROLE OVERVIEW:
Reporting to the Superintendent or Project Manager, the Foreman is tasked with overseeing and directing a team of workers to ensure project success by achieving or surpassing corporate and project objectives. The Foreman is responsible for safety, quality, profitability, and scheduling, which ultimately leads to customer satisfaction.
KEY DUTIES:
- Review contracts, project documentation, and plans to ensure fieldwork aligns with the latest specifications and scope.
- Collaborate with the Superintendent to pre-plan work activities, including safety action plans.
- Organize daily operations for the assigned project, ensuring the availability of necessary resources for timely completion (labour, equipment, materials).
- Oversee crew performance in relation to company goals, safety audits, and adherence to policies.
- Conduct tailgate meetings and follow up on necessary actions, including training and discipline.
- Hold daily briefings with the crew to discuss production goals, performance feedback, safety, schedules, and hazards, while encouraging worker input.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety by modeling and enforcing safe work practices and company policies.
- Ensure all field personnel have access to and utilize appropriate safety equipment.
- Communicate effectively with the Project Superintendent, Project Manager, General Contractor, and clients to ensure high customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to align work and goals.
- Perform various administrative tasks, including production reports, timesheets, equipment logs, inspection reports, change orders, and project file updates.
- Provide coaching and guidance to all crew members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Railroad Foreman or 2 years as a Foreman in construction.
- Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's license (non-GDL).
- High School Diploma is an asset.
- Valid CROR certification is an asset.
- Training in First Aid, WHMIS, Confined Space, and CSTS is beneficial.
