This position is crucial for the effective distribution of tasks, coaching, training, and resolving technical challenges. The Lead is accountable for the operational management and administration of the organization's server infrastructure and associated systems, which encompass file, print, application, web, messaging, and database systems, along with essential infrastructure applications such as networking, storage, backup, and virtual environments.
Key Responsibilities
Provide leadership and mentorship to team members, fostering professional growth and development. Direct daily operations, ensuring efficient workload distribution and adherence to performance metrics. Assess training needs and facilitate skill enhancement for team members. Organize work schedules and prioritize tasks to meet evolving demands. Manage procurement processes for IT infrastructure equipment, ensuring compliance with organizational policies. Offer specialized technical support for scientific programs, focusing on server design, installation, and security. Coordinate system upgrades and performance tuning to optimize server functionality. Document technical procedures and maintain system documentation, including disaster recovery plans. Collaborate with IT department members to enhance network performance and service availability. Maintain communication with external partners and vendors to stay informed about industry advancements. Supervise project delivery by staff, ensuring efficient use of resources. Provide technical consulting for new systems and applications, preparing necessary documentation for decision-making. Stay updated on current trends in information systems through continuous learning and professional development.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience, including two years in a leadership capacity.Skills and Competencies
Proficient in Microsoft and Linux infrastructure technologies, with hands-on experience in systems administration. Strong understanding of enterprise-level systems administration and backup/recovery methods. Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts clearly. Proven ability to analyze and resolve operational challenges with innovative solutions. Familiarity with legislative obligations and commitments to Indigenous rights and cultural safety.What We Offer
