CB Canada is seeking a highly skilled Controller to oversee the accounting and clerical department. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate accounting and financial management, with a strong background in financial analysis, budgeting, and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage the accounting operations, including the review of journal entries, accounts payable, and statutory reporting.
- Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies and procedures.
- Consolidate financial data for internal and external financial statements, including P&Ls by Branch/SBU.
- Work with operations to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control current processes that impact customer quality and internal operating efficiency.
- Provide strategic analysis to drive improved decision-making.
- Prepare and present financial information for annual reports.
- Manage foreign exchange transactions.
- Implement and manage internal controls related to financial policies, processes, and procedures.
- Provide advice and guidance on all accounting matters, including financial systems, record-keeping, analysis, and reporting.
- Manage priorities within the accounting group.
- Coordinate the year-end audit and preparation of audited financial statements.
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements and external reporting to financial institutions, ensuring all reporting requirements are met.
- Generate reports of performance against budgets.
- Support new systems or project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspective.
- Assign and authorize cheques, purchase orders, and invoices.
- Formulate accounting policies, procedures, and controls with input from the CFO.
- Work with external tax consultants in preparation of corporate tax filings.
- University degree in Business/Accounting, with a professional accounting designation (such as CA, CPA, CGA, CMA).
- Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management.
- Knowledge of foreign exchange accounting.
- Proficient communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Experience overseeing audits performed by external audit firms.
- Financial analysis, budgeting, and some strategic planning experience.
- Knowledge of budget preparation and analysis techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Management and/or supervisory experience.
