Job Summary:
The Registered Pharmacy Technician will assist in various technical tasks under the supervision of a Pharmacist, including medication consultation, drug dispensing, and computer drug order entry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in medication consultation and drug dispensing
- Enter computer drug orders and maintain accurate records
- Prepare and distribute narcotic drugs, bulk compounds, and sterile products
- Participate in chemotherapy preparation, TPN preparation, and drug pre-packaging
- Replace ward stock drugs and make deliveries
- Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain accuracy in tasks
- Collaborate with the team to achieve departmental goals
Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician program
- Current certification as a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Accuracy in computer order entry and pharmaceutical arithmetic
- Experience with computerized order entry systems and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Physical ability to perform duties, including moderate lifting
Working Conditions:
The successful candidate must be available to work all applicable tours and be flexible to occasional changes in hours. They must also commit to the non-availability requirements of the applicable Collective Agreement.
COVID-19 Vaccination:
The successful candidate must provide evidence of having received a full primary series of a COVID-19 vaccine or combination of vaccines authorized by Health Canada, and having received the final dose 14 days before entering STEGH.
