About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Food Production Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality meals to our patients, clients, and customers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cooking and food preparation, with a minimum of one year of experience in a similar role. You will be responsible for performing routine duties in meal preparation, heating and reheating food, and ensuring that all food is served safely and in a timely manner.

You will work closely with our Food Service Supervisor to ensure that all food service operations are running smoothly and efficiently. This will include maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to food safety protocols, and providing excellent customer service to our patients and clients.

We are looking for a team player who is able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality and safety. About You

We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following skills and qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Minimum one year of experience in cooking and food preparation
  • Successful completion of Food Handlers Course within the past five years
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with other staff, clients, and management
  • Willingness to learn, accept direction, and work effectively in a team environment following established policies and procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound professional judgment, initiative, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to promoting a culture of respect that supports safety, ethical practices, cultural awareness, and organizational health
  • Physical capabilities to perform duties of the position, including heavy lifting, working flexible hours, withstanding the demands of walking and standing during shifts, and working in an environment with heat and temperature fluctuations
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours

This is a permanent, part-time position, working 52.5 hours bi-weekly.

Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive hourly rate of $23.37, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
