Capital Markets Analyst

Position Overview:
BMO Financial Group is a prominent financial services organization that provides a comprehensive range of services including corporate and investment banking, treasury management, as well as research and advisory solutions for clients globally.
This role focuses on the oversight of liquidity and funding risk within BMO Financial Group, encompassing the tracking and reporting of funding activities, collateral utilization, and diversification of liabilities. The position plays a crucial role in ensuring adherence to the bank's policies and standards, acting as the first line of defense. Collaboration with various Lines of Business (LOBs), Corporate Treasury, and Enterprise Risk & Portfolio Management is essential to uphold the integrity and stability of BMO Financial Group through effective management of liquidity and funding risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management, monitoring, and reporting of liquidity and funding risks for BMO Financial Group, ensuring compliance with established policies;
- Collaborate with Corporate Policies and Standards to ensure adherence across all operations;
- Engage with Technology & Operations to create and implement analytical models that enhance the oversight of liquidity risk;
- Generate timely and precise management reports concerning liquidity and funding activities, collateral usage, and liquidity coverage ratios;
- Conduct in-depth analyses of balance sheet impacts under various scenarios related to capital and liquidity;
- Contribute to projects aimed at optimizing the performance of Capital Markets businesses within defined balance sheet constraints;
- Develop and implement liquidity and funding stress testing scenarios to identify and mitigate potential risks;
- Work closely with LOBs to identify and manage liquidity and funding opportunities;
- Create and maintain robust forecasting tools for balance sheet and liquidity to support growth initiatives;
- Ensure compliance with liquidity and funding limits and guidelines in collaboration with LOBs;
- Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management regarding liquidity and funding risk oversight;
- Participate in audits conducted by Internal Audit, external parties, and regulatory agencies.
Qualifications:
Knowledge:
- Professional designations such as CPA, CFA, or FRM are preferred;
- 2 to 5+ years of relevant experience in liquidity and funding management, capital management, or financial reporting;
- Understanding of global financial markets and regulatory environments;
- Familiarity with trading, settlement, and loan systems;
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, along with knowledge of VBA, SQL, and Python;
- Experience in liquidity and funding principles, market risk management, and financial instruments;
- Awareness of international best practices in capital and liquidity management.
