Part-Time Tutor for Elementary Education

Are you enthusiastic about nurturing young minds? Do you have a passion for guiding elementary students (Grades 1-8) in their academic journey across subjects like French, English, and Math?

We are looking for dedicated part-time tutors to join our educational center at Oxford Learning Milton. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy engaging with students, imparting knowledge in language arts and social studies, and are committed to fostering skill development in these areas.

At Oxford Learning, our tutors are provided with pre-planned lessons, eliminating the need for lesson preparation prior to class. All selected candidates will receive comprehensive training in our unique educational philosophy and teaching methods.

Position Requirements

All tutors at Oxford Learning are expected to work during after-school hours and evenings from Monday to Thursday (4:00 PM - 8:00 PM), as well as Saturdays (9:00 AM - 1:00 PM). A commitment through the academic term is preferred, with opportunities to continue during the summer. Reliability is essential, as students will benefit from your consistent support.

This position requires in-person attendance, and candidates must be able to commute to the center. Vulnerable sector screening is a prerequisite.

We encourage applications from individuals who meet the following criteria:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth-year university students with substantial tutoring experience will be considered
  • Teaching certification is an asset
  • Strong understanding of the current Kindergarten to Grade 8 curriculum

Experience:

  • Experience in teaching or tutoring at the Kindergarten to Grade 8 level
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to enhance students' comprehension
  • Capability to manage multiple students simultaneously

Responsibilities (Position Details)

As an Interactive Coach, you will engage directly with students, undertaking the following responsibilities:

  • Instructing up to three students at varying levels simultaneously
  • Adhering to the Oxford Learning methodologies and educational philosophies
  • Documenting post-lesson notes
  • Providing daily updates on student progress
  • Maintaining a professional and approachable demeanor at all times
