Baker Tilly is seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Manager to join our team. This role will report directly to our Tax Partner and provide support to all members of the tax team.
Key Responsibilities:- Review and ensure the accuracy of personal tax, review, and compilation engagements, addressing all tax-related matters prior to filing.
- Review complex Canadian individual and corporate tax returns, as well as other tax work prepared by staff.
- Review and approve technical research and tax planning recommendations for private companies.
- Deliver high-quality tax planning, services, and advice.
- Collaborate with Partners and senior staff on business tax compliance, tax provision, and tax advisory engagements.
- Lead special tax engagements.
- Build and manage client relationships at a senior level, identifying client service opportunities.
- Provide support, coaching, and development of firm staff with respect to tax knowledge and matters.
- Prepare and present technical sessions to firm staff.
- Manage engagement financials, including budgets, work-in-process variances, and billing.
- Canadian Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) or equivalent.
- Successful completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course or Master of Tax Program.
- 7-10+ years of public accounting experience with experience in a tax-specific environment.
- High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Caseware, and TaxPrep considered an asset.
- Excellent attention to detail and project management skills.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of a client-focused fast-paced work environment and ability to effectively pivot between tasks, prioritize, and manage deliverables to meet conflicting deadlines.
- Experience working with owner-managed businesses considered an asset.
