About the Opportunity

Aecon Utilities is seeking a seasoned Superintendent to join our team and contribute to our mission of becoming Canada's #1 utility construction provider. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of projects on schedule, within budget, and with a focus on safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective completion of projects.
  • Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and take corrective action as needed.
  • Coordinate and manage the administration, scheduling, and construction functions to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Represent Aecon Utilities with clients, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.
  • Manage and maintain accurate records of project costs, claims, and back charges.
  • Implement and monitor Aecon's safety and environmental policies, as well as quality control plans.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and union agreements.
  • Lead and motivate project staff, promoting a culture of discipline, morale, and inclusivity.
  • Review and approve project cost reports, ensuring accurate and up-to-date financial projections.
  • Contribute to the bid process and provide input on project proposals.

Requirements

  • Technical school background or equivalent experience in the construction industry.
  • At least 5 years of leadership experience in the utilities contracting sector.
  • Experience in civil infrastructure construction for power distribution projects is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of construction techniques, practices, and fundamentals.
  • Experience with contract and subcontract management.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and understanding of commercial vehicle safe operation regulations.
  • Ability to travel within Ontario as required.
