Job Summary:
The Sault Area Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform all dispensing functions independently, adhering to departmental procedures and NAPRA Standards.
- Conduct final technical checks of products, following departmental processes and OCP standards.
- Replenish stock and utilize the Pneumatic Tube for distribution.
- Function as a Pharmacy Courier, ensuring timely delivery of medications.
- Supply medications, maintaining accurate documentation and workload statistics.
- Manage inventory control, maintaining adequate stock levels and accurate counts.
- Supply nursing units with ward stocks of Narcotic and Controlled drugs, adhering to department procedures.
- Maintain crash cart supplies and perform duties related to the Pharmacy Drug Budget.
- Perform other duties as assigned, ensuring a clean and orderly work environment.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program approved by the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
- Registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Pharmacy Technician.
Skills and Abilities:
- Mathematical computation skills for pharmacy practice.
- Attention to detail for accurate dispensing and order entry.
- Writing skills for clear and concise reports and summaries.
- Verbal communication skills for effective interactions with colleagues and patients.
- Organizational and prioritization skills for efficient workflow management.
Working Relationships:
- Demonstrated ability to maintain successful working relationships and interact with people in a professional and reassuring manner.
- Ability to meet and interact with people in a pleasant, professional, responsible, and reassuring manner, both in person and on the telephone.
Operating Knowledge:
- Knowledge of computers, printers, fax machines, and pharmaceutical-related software.
- Familiarity with the proper operation of laminar flow hoods, analytical balances, syringe pumps, packaging equipment, and other equipment used in drug distribution.
