Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Temporary Part-Time ELL Teacher to join our team at School District #60 (Peace River North). As an ELL Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and linguistic development of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach English Language Learners (ELLs) in a part-time capacity, providing instruction and support to help them achieve academic success.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of ELLs.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a positive and inclusive classroom culture.
Requirements
  • Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
  • Qualifications and demonstrated ability to teach the identified subjects
  • Experience with universal design and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, collaboration, and organization skills
  • Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning
  • Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community
  • Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn
  • Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning
  • Demonstrated use of classroom management practices that are pro-active and maintain student dignity
  • Demonstrated use of assessment practices that promote student learning and maintain student dignity
  • Training and experience teaching ELL, ASD, and knowledge of materials and strategies appropriate for supporting students with ADHD, FAS, and behavior disorders
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others to support the learning of students with a wide variety of needs
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to create an inclusive and respectful classroom environment
  • Patience and Empathy: Willingness to support students' language acquisition journey
  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective communication, both verbal and written, that adapts to the student's proficiency level
  • Differentiated Instruction: Ability to tailor instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Strong Information Literacy Skills
