Job Summary

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Lands Officer to join our team in the Lands Program. As a Lands Officer, you will be responsible for the operational delivery of the Lands Approvals Program, regulating land use and related activities, and ensuring compliance with approved plans and disposition conditions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver operational services for the Lands Approvals Program, including review and conditioning of approvals
  • Regulate land use and related activities through field inspections and audits
  • Determine the end use of public land for different activities
  • Administer, inspect, and monitor various dispositions and activities
  • Provide input into public land management and operational policy and program development
  • Evaluate land to determine sustainable use of Crown land
  • Assist with program delivery as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Forest Technology, or Natural Sciences
  • Four years of experience in integrated land management
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent

Equivalency

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

Additional Assets

  • Working knowledge of various legislation
  • Experience with stakeholder engagement
  • Experience operating specialized equipment
  • Experience with ARC GIS
