About the Role

The Clinical Social Worker plays a vital role within the interdisciplinary health care team, delivering comprehensive and integrated care across various levels of health services. This position emphasizes the importance of understanding the interplay between individuals and their environments, which is essential for promoting psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual health. The focus on social determinants of health is central to social work practice, guiding the ongoing process of engagement, assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are interested in candidates who possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution
  • Active registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience post-BSW
  • Experience in community-based settings is preferred
  • Proven ability to employ a client- and family-centered approach
  • Knowledge of various evidence-based treatment modalities, including Motivational Interviewing and behavior change counseling
  • Experience in facilitating group sessions
  • Competence in conducting biopsychosocial assessments
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to assist clients and families in navigating local community resources and services
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a dependable vehicle
  • Effective time management and self-organization skills
  • Comfort and experience in collaborating with community partners
  • Proficiency in additional languages is an asset, with French and Mi'kmaw being preferred

Work Schedule
  • Permanent full-time position; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Travel to various locations is required
Salary and Benefits

The hourly wage is $42.89.
