Manager - Electric Systems Planning & Compliance

Are you a seasoned professional with a passion for electric systems planning and compliance? Do you have a strong background in electrical engineering and a proven track record of regulatory compliance?

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager - Electric Systems Planning & Compliance to join our team at the City of Medicine Hat. As a key member of our Utilities Distribution Systems team, you will be responsible for ensuring the functional system operation of our distribution system and meeting all regulatory compliance obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain compliance with Alberta Reliability Standards (ARS) and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) standards.
  • Ensure the reliability, cost-effectiveness, and functionality of our electrical infrastructure through system operating plans.
  • Develop and maintain system capacity modeling and long-term electrical infrastructure growth planning.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, mentorship, and development to the workgroup.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution. A Graduate degree is an asset.
  • Ten (10) years' experience in regulatory compliance programs within electrical power generation, transmission, or distribution environments, including five (5) years of supervisory experience.
  • Membership (or eligibility) with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Alberta Vehicle Operator's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • An equivalent combination of management-approved training, experience, and education may be considered.
