Job Overview
Under general supervision, this role is accountable for the management and comprehension of data networks and network security, encompassing all communication systems within the Global Information Systems Infrastructure division. Responsibilities include monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting core data networks and end-user data network requirements, which include servers, desktops, telephones, voicemails, mobile devices, and data connectivity to host systems and applications. The position ensures that the long-term needs of data, security, and voice systems operations and administration are fulfilled through data analysis, trending, and reporting. Key responsibilities include the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of data, security, and voice networks. The role also involves developing and promoting standard operating procedures, work instructions, and standards documentation. Regular audits of network and network security layers are conducted to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines. On-call duties are required.
Key Responsibilities
• Assume technical responsibility for the overall administration of the global data network and network security, ensuring alignment with design, GIS strategy, guidelines, principles, policies, and procedures.
• Provide second and third-level support for end-user communication systems in accordance with GIS Service Level Agreements.
• Manage personal performance with a commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
• Assist in achieving departmental objectives and commitments.
• Investigate, diagnose, and resolve incidents collaboratively with co-workers and customers.
• Update the call tracking system in accordance with GIS processes, monitoring and communicating the progress of incidents and escalating as necessary.
• Regularly liaise with internal customers and teams to understand their needs and keep them informed of project progress and findings.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive documentation of processes and procedures to ensure system supportability.
• Required to be on-call, with all work governed by the on-call policy.
• Utilize problem-solving techniques to identify root causes of issues with internal customers and contractors, determining appropriate actions for complex activities.
• Develop a thorough understanding of all Apotex policies, procedures, and standards related to their information technology area.
• Ensure that advice provided to internal clients and co-workers complies with directives and is delivered professionally.
• Contribute to the development and amendment of standard operating procedures.
• Proficient in the use of office automation tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Submit Status Reports, Expense Reports, and Employee Time Exception Forms promptly when required.

Job Qualifications
Education
• Degree in Engineering or Computer Science, Vendor Certifications, or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• Collaborative interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a matrix, client-focused environment.
• Proven customer service and support orientation, familiar with ITIL or similar service delivery/support models.
• Ability to configure data and security networks, including routing/switching, troubleshooting, management reporting; traffic, firewalls, proxy, cloud security, fault and performance monitoring, Ethernet, and IP protocols.
• Experience in the administration, installation, and implementation of data networking and network security devices.
Experience
• Ability to comprehend and analyze end-user issues and troubleshoot in a timely manner.
• 4-6 years of experience or education in a validated and/or change-controlled environment.
• Experience in maintaining and administering Event Management and Network Reporting Tools, including BMC, Solarwinds, HP NNM, and Riverbed Cascade.
• Knowledge of all network security layers, including cloud-based systems (e.g., NexGen FW, Identity Service Access Control Systems, Proxy/Policy control systems).
• Understanding of video conferencing technology, with the ability to troubleshoot, manage traffic, and ensure high quality of service.
• Assist in routine moves, adds, and changes (MACs) for voice and data equipment in coordination with logistics staff.
• Familiarity with voicemail systems, including administration, setup, and configuration (e.g., Call Pilot, Cisco Unity).
• Experience with scanning technologies (RF and Fixed mount), including configuration, setup, programming, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of Avaya/Nortel CS100E, Cisco Call Manager, or equivalent PBX systems, including configuration, administration, troubleshooting, traffic management, and reporting (certification is an asset).
• Experience working with SIP, VOIP, Microsoft OCS, Microsoft Lync, and Cisco Unified Communication Systems.
• Understanding of wireless (WIFI) technology administration, including cellular, two-way, and in-building systems.
• Experience in data/security/voice communication protocols and the deployment of networking and security technologies on a global scale.
• Responsible for the administration of email systems, including cloud-based email (e.g., O365).
