About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and physically capable individual to join our team at Ledwidge Lumber as a Mechanic Assistant. This is a permanent position that requires a strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Tool Maintenance and Organization: Assist in the maintenance and organization of tools and equipment to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Site Safety and Security: Participate in ensuring a safe working environment by following safety procedures and protocols.
  • Support to Tradespersons: Provide assistance to tradespersons, apprentices, and other workers as directed by supervisors.
  • Cleanliness and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and organized work area, including the cleaning of machines and equipment.
  • Refuse Management: Assist in the collection and disposal of refuse and waste.
  • Equipment Operation and Maintenance: Operate and maintain landscape maintenance equipment, including lawn mowers, trimmers, and other machinery.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Work Site Conditions: Work in a noisy, dusty, and potentially odorous environment.
  • Physical Demands: The role requires a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling, and handling heavy loads.
  • Attention to Detail: Maintain attention to detail and perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.
  • Hand-Eye Coordination: Demonstrate good hand-eye coordination and ability to operate equipment safely.
