Qualifications and Experience

Education and Training: A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education or a relevant subject area with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), or an equivalent qualification from an accredited institution, ideally with a background in Canadian education. A minimum of 10 weeks of supervised student teaching experience at a recognized post-secondary institution is required. Valid certification from the relevant authority in both the jurisdiction of training and the last teaching location is essential. Further studies in special education are highly desirable.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of classroom teaching experience is strongly preferred, with previous experience as a learning support teacher being mandatory.

Language Competency: Native proficiency in both spoken and written English is required, while fluency in spoken and written Chinese is preferred.

Application of Current Pedagogy: A solid understanding of contemporary trends in educational research and development related to special education is necessary. Proven skills in facilitating student-centered learning and assessment through inquiry-based methods, differentiated instruction, and the integration of technology in teaching and learning are essential.
