What is the Opportunity?


The Royal Bank of Canada is seeking a highly skilled Associate Director, Compliance to join its Compliance team. This individual will play a critical role in supporting the Compliance program of RBC Global Asset Management in Canada.


As a key member of the Compliance team, the Associate Director, Compliance will be responsible for providing in-depth expertise in regulatory requirements for various registration categories, including Investment Fund Manager, Portfolio Manager, Commodity Trading Manager, and Exempt Market Dealer.


This role involves analyzing, interpreting, and summarizing the impact of complex regulatory rules and developments, as well as assisting in the creation and implementation of new or amended compliance policies and procedures.


Key Responsibilities


  • Analyze and interpret complex regulatory rules and developments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of new or amended compliance policies and procedures
  • Respond to compliance inquiries and advise internal departments on various subject matters
  • Support the team's execution of second-line of defense Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) activities
  • Execute day-to-day compliance operational activities and tasks
  • Work effectively within a team environment and provide backup to other members of the team as assigned

Requirements


  • 2-4 years of relevant employment experience in regulatory compliance in the financial institution or securities industry
  • University or post-graduate degree in Business, Finance, or Law
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues
  • Accuracy in work output, attention to detail, and accuracy are essential
  • Effective organization skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and deadlines
  • Ethical and able to maintain confidentiality
  • Professional and able to work collaboratively with others
  • Experience in writing policies, procedures, reports, and other effective communication
