Applications Engineer for Silicon Photonics

Location: Ottawa, Ontario

We are looking for a dedicated Field Applications Engineer to collaborate closely with our clients, business development teams, and internal engineering departments to secure design wins for our OdinTM Silicon Photonics platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business development and marketing teams to identify applications and secure design wins for Ranovus' products with hyperscalers, ASIC vendors, and systems integrators.
  • Act as the primary technical liaison and support daily interactions for design wins with customers and partners.
  • Engage with product management and internal engineering teams (system architects, designers, testers) to translate customer requirements into actionable plans.
  • Assist in the integration and activation of customer platforms utilizing Ranovus' products.
  • Deliver hardware demonstrations to clients and at significant industry events.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical and marketing materials for customers and partners (application notes, etc.).
  • Post-pandemic, this role will require frequent travel and a flexible schedule.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Field Applications Engineer in a semiconductor or systems organization.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in SerDes and electrical/optical interconnect products (hardware and software), focusing on datacenter and embedded systems.
  • Experience in supporting new product launches and achieving design wins.
  • Background in a highly technical environment supporting datacom products and clientele.
  • Exceptional relationship management and customer service abilities.
  • Hands-on experience in the setup and testing of optical communications and/or networking products and systems.
  • Familiarity with optical communications systems, silicon photonics, and data center technologies.
  • Knowledge of industrial standards such as IEEE 802.3 Ethernet, OIF, PCIe/CXL, MSAs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English is essential).
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working in a highly technical, dynamic, cross-functional team environment.

Required Education:

  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field such as Electrical/Computer Engineering, Physics, Optics, or Photonics.
  • Candidates with a bachelor's degree will be considered based on relevant experience.
