As a pivotal component of the university's clinical community behavioral health and interprofessional practice training initiative, Adler Community Health Services offers complimentary, in-person and telehealth, trauma-informed prevention and intervention services across various organizations serving underserved populations.

The Clinical Faculty member holds four primary responsibilities: curriculum development and instruction, clinical oversight and mentorship of student-trainees, management of partner sites, and, when necessary, direct provision of clinical services. Under the guidance of the Director of Training, the Clinical Faculty executes these duties within the community, on campus, and remotely, adhering to accreditation standards, university policies, local laws, and professional ethics.

Qualifications:

  • A confirmed master's degree in counseling, counseling psychology, art therapy, or a related field is mandatory.
  • At least one year of documented clinical experience with underserved communities is required.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English is essential; fluency in an additional language is advantageous.
  • Experience in substance use prevention and/or treatment is a plus.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid registration as a Clinical Counsellor and/or Art Therapist in good standing is required.

Supervision Responsibilities: Clinical oversight for master's level trainees as designated by the Director of Training. Additional clinical consultation for doctoral practicum students, interns, and postdoctoral residents may be provided as needed.

Work Schedule/Location: The hours for this role align with trainee schedules, which may include evening hours from Monday to Friday and can vary. A significant portion of the work occurs at contracted community partner sites.

Travel Requirements: Travel is anticipated at approximately 15%; local travel to clinical sites within the metropolitan area is necessary. Occasional travel outside the province or to the United States may be required for professional development or related activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development and Instruction (30%):

  • Deliver didactic sessions and seminars to trainees as assigned by the Director of Training.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to assess and recommend enhancements for training programs and clinical services.
  • Assist the Director of Training with accreditation evaluations and reporting obligations.

Clinical Oversight and Mentorship (30%):

  • Provide clinical guidance for care delivered by assigned trainees.
  • Offer group and individual supervision to trainees as designated by the Director of Training.
  • Facilitate mentorship and feedback on trainee professionalism.
  • Evaluate and improve trainee performance through assessments and remediation plans as necessary.
  • Review and approve trainees' clinical documentation.
  • Monitor and validate data, including trainees' hours and treatment outcomes.
  • Participate in the selection, onboarding, and offboarding processes for trainees.

Partner Site Management (20%):

  • Collaborate with site personnel to coordinate services provided by ACHS trainees.
  • Attend interprofessional team meetings and maintain regular communication with site contacts.
  • Manage referrals, patient care, and aftercare services.
  • Coordinate emergency services as needed.

Direct Clinical Service Provision (10%):

  • Deliver direct clinical services when required.
  • Provide emergency clinical interventions as necessary.

Additional Duties as Assigned (10%):

Work Environment: The role entails various physical demands, including some lifting, carrying, and significant fine motor skills. Typically, the position involves approximately 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing, performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
