Job Summary

Northern Employment Solutions Inc is seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to lead our capital projects team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the execution of electrical projects, collaborating with engineering firms, and providing technical expertise to site-based infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Execution: Assist the Capital Projects Manager in the execution of electrical projects, ensuring timely completion and within budget.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering firms to complete detailed engineering for projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical resource to site electrical infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Project Development: Lead site-based capital projects throughout the project development process, from conceptualization to completion.
  • Business Case Development: In collaboration with project sponsors, develop business cases, conceptual ideas, project scopes, and technical feasibility reviews.
  • Project Estimation: Develop project estimates, prepare and submit Application for Expenditures requests, and collaborate with the procurement group to execute scopes of work.
  • Project Scheduling: Lead the development of project schedules in alignment with business requirements, ensuring timely completion and resource allocation.
  • Cost Management: Collaborate with the Projects Cost Controller to manage project costs, review actuals to date, provide forecasts, cost deviation, and recommend remedial actions to stay on budget.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary education in engineering – electrical.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in mine electrical projects, including infrastructure, power transmission, substations, medium to high voltage equipment, large battery storage, etc.
  • Designations: P. Eng designation; PMP designation is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge: Good knowledge of Ontario energy and power systems is considered an asset; knowledge of the mining and construction regulations.
  • Skills: Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
