Position Summary
The role of the Physiotherapist in the Acute Care Unit involves evaluating the physical capabilities of patients and implementing treatment strategies aimed at rehabilitation and pain management. You will utilize your expertise to identify issues and take decisive action to enhance patient outcomes. Your strong communication skills will facilitate effective collaboration with physicians, staff, patients, and their families, ensuring a high standard of professionalism in all interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care in accordance with established physiotherapy standards and collaborate with healthcare team members.
- Conduct thorough assessments to develop tailored treatment plans based on clinical findings.
- Implement evidence-based physiotherapy techniques to address patient conditions safely.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
- Provide educational sessions for hospital staff and community groups, while supervising physiotherapy support personnel.
- Engage in continuous professional development through various educational opportunities.
- Facilitate patient and family education as necessary.
- Monitor productivity statistics and ensure adherence to health and safety protocols.
- Utilize best practice guidelines to formulate effective physiotherapy care plans aligned with organizational goals.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Minimum one year of relevant experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Registration in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
- Preferred membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
- Familiarity with mental health regulations as applicable.
- Oxygen Titration rostered status with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
- Proficient in computer applications, including MS Word and patient information systems.
- Assistive Devices Program Authorizer status for mobility devices is preferred.
- Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.

This position is part-time and temporary, with 8-hour day shifts, including weekends, in the Acute Care Unit.
