Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Outreach Counsellor to join our Native Healing Centre team. As an Outreach Counsellor, you will provide 1:1 counselling services and workshops to clients within our supportive housing developments and Native Healing Centre. Your approach should embrace harm reduction practices, culturally responsive support, trauma-informed practices, and an overall holistic approach to mental well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide client-centered counselling to individuals who need mental health supports but who are experiencing accessibility challenges.
- Develop and implement workshops to support clients in achieving their personal goals.
- Work collaboratively with the Native Healing Centre team to provide comprehensive support services.
- Utilize a strength-based approach to work with clients, focusing on their strengths and resilience.
- Ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented, nonjudgmental, open-minded qualities, and a clear sense of boundaries.
- Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
Qualifications
- Degree in Social Work or a related field. Master's degree considered an asset.
- Certification in or willing to obtain: First Aid, Class 4 Driver's License, Suicide Intervention, and Conflict Resolution.
- Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search.
- Have knowledge of trauma-informed care and practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
