Position Overview
The Real Estate and Development Department is dedicated to creating vibrant spaces and communities that reflect the values of Squamish. The role of the Manager, Real Estate and Development will play a crucial part in achieving our mission of fostering long-term economic growth for the Nation and its Members, while leading innovative projects across the Squamish Nation Territory.
Our initiatives evaluate Squamish Nation lands and formulate development strategies that align with the Nation's social, environmental, cultural, economic, and political objectives. Nch'ḵay̓ was established as the economic development branch of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw, Squamish Nation, with a focus on managing and owning the Nation's active businesses, ensuring a clear distinction between business and political affairs.
Role Details
The Manager, Real Estate and Development is a Permanent Full-Time position located at Nch'ḵay̓'s Head Office. This role is integral to generating wealth and prosperity for the Squamish Nation community. You will collaborate with a supportive team and have opportunities for ongoing learning, professional development, and career advancement.

Key Responsibilities
The Manager, Real Estate Development will be instrumental in managing a variety of complex land development and planning projects. Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the management of key assets owned or managed by Nch'ḵay̓.
- Leading all phases of the real estate development process, including site selection, feasibility studies, financial analysis, conceptual planning, permitting, and project management.
- Coordinating with primary consultants and service providers to ensure projects are executed effectively.
- Conducting site visits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining high standards of property management.
- Developing and managing operating and capital budgets for assigned properties.
- Engaging with tenants to assess satisfaction and address any concerns.
- Providing leadership and guidance to team members, identifying their development needs.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A strong understanding of Squamish Nation culture and values.
- A minimum of five years of experience in real estate, asset, or tenant management.
- A post-secondary degree in real estate, urban planning, or a related field.
- Proven experience in leading projects from feasibility through to delivery.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse perspectives.
- A valid BC Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.
Working Conditions
This position requires frequent site visits in various locations. The role is designed to uphold the values of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Nation while contributing to the economic development of the community.
