Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of employees, including supervisors and dispatch, to ensure effective supervision and support to meet performance standards. This includes managing and coordinating daily activities, such as solid waste collection, route optimization, staffing, and the maintenance of physical property through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all branch employees, ensuring effective supervision and support to meet performance standards.
  • Manage and coordinate daily activities, including solid waste collection, route optimization, staffing, and the maintenance of physical property.
  • Lead financial management efforts, including regular P&L reviews and the planning and administration of the branch capital budget.
  • Monitor service issues, such as customer complaints and missed pickups, maintaining a high standard of service quality.
  • Ensure adherence to company safety programs and policies, reviewing and monitoring all safety issues to implement corrective actions and ensure compliance with legislation and contract obligations.
  • Select, train, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure that employees possess the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their responsibilities effectively.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and work on employee development.
  • Collaborate with the Vice President in the development of both short-term and long-term goals, policies, and objectives for the branch.
  • Conduct various studies, self-audits, and investigations, and make recommendations for modifications to operations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a management or leadership role within waste management, recycling, or a related industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong background in logistics, environmental services, or operational management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other business software for reporting and communication.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, financial reporting, and P&L management.
  • Ability to develop and manage capital budgets and monitor branch performance against financial targets.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate challenges and proactively implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Familiarity with branch management software, ERP systems, or similar platforms for managing operations, budgets, and customer service workflows.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interface with senior leadership, customers, and employees.
  • Ability to build and sustain productive relationships with clients, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Strong adaptability to changing business conditions and ability to lead teams through transitions and new strategies.
  • Experience in leading safety programs and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
