Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Glazier to join our team at Progress Glass Company Ltd.. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in glass installation and repair, with a focus on delivering exceptional service to our clients.

Qualifications
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months in a relevant field
Work Environment

The position involves working in various settings, including:

  • On-site customer service
  • Repair and installation at retail service and repair firms
  • Shop fabrication
Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Determining the appropriate type of glass, frames, and materials needed for projects
  • Measuring, marking, and cutting glass to specifications
  • Positioning and securing glass panes within frames
  • Assembling and installing prefabricated glass products, mirrors, and other glass items
  • Installing various hardware, including doors and windows
  • Repairing glass doors and other glass structures as required
  • Estimating costs and materials for projects
Types of Glass and Materials

Familiarity with various types of glass and materials is essential, including:

  • Acrylic plexiglass
  • Float glass
  • Mirrors
  • Sealed units
Frame Fabrication and Installation

Experience with frame fabrication and installation is a plus, particularly with:

  • Curtain walls (both stock length and prefabricated materials)
  • Aluminum framing members
  • Entranceways
Glass Cutting Techniques

Proficiency in glass cutting equipment and techniques is required, including:

  • Free-hand cutting of glass plates (curved cuts)
  • Edging glass plates
Specialization in Installation

Specialization in the following areas is advantageous:

  • Curtain walls
  • Aluminum storefronts, barrel vaults, and solariums
  • Commercial window systems
  • Shower doors and tub enclosures
  • Vehicle windows, windshields, and sunroofs
  • Interior walls and partitions
Physical Requirements

This role is physically demanding and requires:

  • Ability to bend, crouch, and kneel
Employment Details

This is a permanent position with a work schedule of 30 hours per week. The primary language of work is English.
