Job Title: Deltaport Yard Planner

Global Container Terminals Inc. is seeking a skilled Yard Planner to join our Deltaport Yard Planning Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for allocating containers arriving on the terminal via truck, rail, or vessel, in cooperation with other departments using a Terminal Operating System and other tools as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Allocate resources to maximize productivity and customer service.
  • Plan traffic to and from the rail, yard, vessel, and gate to avoid congestion and facilitate efficient operations.
  • Make consolidations to maximize space in the terminal.
  • Input empty containers according to the requirements of the vessel, good order, and damaged containers.
  • Inter-departmental communication.
  • Complete additional duties as required.
Requirements:
  • High school graduation required and a diploma in Logistics, Transportation or Shipping is preferred.
  • Two (2) years of relevant and related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow established procedures with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated sound analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills including the ability to multi-task, prioritize and work under pressure in order to meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated sound verbal communication skills including telephone call-handling skills and the ability to respond to difficult or demanding situations with tact and diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated courteous, professional manner in dealing with internal and external contacts and customers, including positive interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to keyboard at an intermediate level.
  • Ability to work effectively with software applications required to support operations activities, including the MS Office suite of applications.
  • Knowledge of yard and marine terminal / operations environment an asset.
