Aecon is seeking a highly skilled Senior Water Estimator to join our team in Edmonton, AB. As a key member of our Estimating department, you will be responsible for generating accurate and timely cost estimates for assigned water projects.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of water industry standards, specifications, and contract language.
- Analyze project documents, drawings, and proposals to prepare accurate estimates.
- Collaborate with Operations staff to ensure estimates are aligned with project requirements.
- Perform quantity take-off from construction drawings and obtain pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Formulate all costs for tender submission, including labor, equipment, materials, rentals, and subcontracts.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of tender submissions and oversee distribution of documentation upon project award.
- Track, forecast, and report on financial and operational performance of awarded projects.
- Manage scope changes and coordinate invoicing and progress payment activities.
- Maintain files and correspondence on active and completed projects.
- Collaborate with Operations to drive project success and learning.
- Drive Estimating process and procedure compliance and consistency.
- Perform post-bid and post-project analysis and communicate learning to the team.
- 4-8 years of experience in the construction industry, with a focus on water estimation.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings and documents.
- Thorough knowledge of contract language, terms and conditions, and bonding.
- Thorough understanding of applicable industry standards.
- Consistently follows standards and best practices.
- Good understanding of drawings and ability to interpret schematics.
- Good knowledge of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting and reporting principles.
- Established track record of winning bids with accurate cost targets.
- Ability to interpret specifications and identify potential risks.
- Consistently performs on-site investigations and incorporates findings into bids to ensure constructability.
