Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our team at St Marys Cement Canada. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of our plant equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure that maintenance activities comply with company and regulatory safety standards, and implement safety protocols to protect employees and equipment.
  • Supervision: Direct and supervise maintenance workers, contractors, and other personnel as required, ensuring that work is completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance, repair, and calibration of plant equipment, including crushers, mills, kilns, conveyors, and associated equipment.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve complex maintenance issues, and develop corrective action plans to rectify problems.
  • Budget Management: Evaluate cost reduction opportunities, and introduce new preventative maintenance technology programs to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to maintenance staff on effective troubleshooting techniques, and ensure that all technical training and development requirements are met.
  • Documentation, Reporting & Payroll: Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment histories, safety inspections, and compliance documentation.
  • Union Management: Maintain a strong and positive relationship with the union, and deal with union issues and concerns as they arise.
  • Maintenance Planning: Participate in daily and weekly planning meetings, and provide input to the maintenance planner to set job priorities.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of cement industrial experience in maintenance roles, with a proven track record of progressive responsibility.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of MS Office, and experience with SAP is an asset.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, taste or smell. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
